Planet Ford in Humble on Hwy. 59 along with the owners, Randall and Sherry Reed are making headlines, again. The Reeds along with Claire and Chuck Kramer, GM/Operating Partner of Planet Ford in Humble were on hand at the “groovy” Humble ISD Education Foundation annual gala. All were dressed to the nines ’70 style to give one teacher the surprise of her life.
Joanna Grigsby, who was named the district and elementary school teacher of the year, was also presented the keys to a new 2013 Ford Escape by Randall Reed Planet Ford in Humble.
Mr. and Mrs. Reed personally announced Ms. Grigsby as the teacher of the year. She was offered the choice of selecting a brand new Ford Escape or Ford Fusion as her award. The next day she made her choice and is now happily traveling to school in her new Ford.
The giving didn’t stop there. Mr. and Mrs. Reed provided gift certificates for $1,000 to each of the other 9 finalist to cover their down payment on a new Ford car, truck or SUV. In addition, he offered a free maintenance package for free from Ford, as well. “Teachers do so much for our kids and our community,” Mr. Reed said. “This is one small way we can express our gratitude.”
During the gala, Mr. and Mrs. Reed announced that this is the first of many vehicles they will be giving away for education. Humble ISD was a pilot for what is now a program Mr. Reed is implementing with a number of school districts and education foundations to help support and celebrate the people who help support the children.
“This was such a special evening,” said Mrs. Reed. “We are thankful to be part of it and be able to do something for these teachers who make a real difference day in and day out.”
Mr. Kramer agrees, “We have worked with Humble ISD and the Humble ISD Education Foundation for years, and we are thrilled to be part of recognizing this wonderful educator. We will continue to do all that we can to support our kids and community.”
