It’s that time of year again. The evening we all come together to celebrate those who educate. Randall Reed’s Planet Ford is proud to be part of the celebration and helping say thank you with making a “dream car” come true for one of our very special community educators during this year’s “Totally 80s” themed Humble Independent School District Education Foundation Gala.
Friday night at 6:30 p.m., Humble ISD’s 10 District Teacher of the Year finalists will be announced and recognized at the Humble Civic Center. One of the “totally tubular” 10 Teacher of the Year finalists will be named District Teacher of the Year and handed the keys to a new Ford Mustang, donated by Randall and Sherry Reed and Planet Ford.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Randall Reed, owner. “We appreciate what educators do for our kids and for our community. We enjoy being able to surprise one of them and let all teachers know how thankful we are for all they do.”
But wait…. there’s more! The runner-up finalist gets a wonderful and grand prize getaway to Florida. Of course, all of the finalists are winners, so each one will be honored on stage and awarded a new iPad, donated by parents and alumni Jonathan and Carrie Brinsden.
The Humble ISD’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes educators for their passion and commitment to excellence in education.
Each Humble ISD school selected their Campus Teacher of the Year, who were then invited to submit written materials as to why they should be considered a finalist. A selection committee chose 10 from among the entries of 44 Campus Teachers of the Year . They conducted interviews and then selected an Elementary and a Secondary Teacher of the Year. Friday, April 1st, 2016 one of them will be announced April 1 as the District Teacher of the Year, handed keys to a new car and drive off into the night. And that’s no fooling.
