2015 Super Duty Receives Honors

2015 Super DutyAt Planet Ford in Humble (also serving Kingwood, Atascocita, and greater Houston), we are excited about the new 2015 Ford Super Duty. Even more so now with the news that the Ford F-Series Super Duty will deliver best in class horse power, torque and towing capacity.

That’s right. Ford reports the second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel boosts horsepower to a class-leading 440 horsepower and torque to a class-leading 860 lb.-ft. for all models. The Ford F-350 will be available with a maximum towing package that increases fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailer towing capacity to 26,500 pounds. It raises the gross combined weight rating to an impressive 35,000 pounds.

F-Series Decade of GrowthSo, what is in store for the Ford F-450?  The chassis upgrades raise its maximum gooseneck trailer towing capacity to class-leading 31,200 pounds, fifth wheel towing capacity to class-leading 26,500 pounds and a gross combined weight rating to an awesome  class-leading 40,000 pounds.

These improved ratings are a result  of designing and engineering the truck as an integrated system.  The new approach allowed Ford engineers to optimize performance across the entire lineup.

According to Robert Fascetti, Ford vice president power train engineering, “The 6.7-liter Power Stroke was already a stout engine. The improvements we’ve made essentially give Super Duty customers an engine designed for our larger F-650 and F-750 trucks.” He says, may may not realize how “built Ford tough” their engine really is.

Some of the main innovations on the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel include its compacted graphite iron engine block and reverse-flow layout. This segment-exclusive design has the exhaust inside the engine’s V-shape, while the air intake is positioned on the outside resulting in a variety of advancements.

Other enhancements include a larger turbocharger for faster air displacement which results what all truck owners want — more power. The engine block is compacted graphite iron. It is stronger yet lighter than traditional cast iron. It is also more wear-resistant and has enhanced sealing properties.

New injector tips spray a finer mist of fuel into the cylinders which allows for a more complete burn and it also aids in reducing noise, vibration and harshness. Other benefits to tout are lower emissions and less fuel deposit buildup on the intake valves over time.

Once again, Ford is making huge headline! This time, the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible has been named one of the “hottest convertibles” of 2014 according to MSN Autos.

The auto site writer is as excited as the Planet Ford team in Humble (serving greater Houston) about the gorgeous new muscle car. MSN Autos says the all-new Mustang “appears to be leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor.” The article goes on to read that the updates will be even more pronounced in the convertible. It is to have a stiffer chassis, reduced noise, less vibration and and calmer ride thanks to improved insulation.

All-New 2015 Expedition Dazzles in Dallas

Ford has made a few key improvements to the new Expedition. The Ford team has done away with the gas-guzzling V8 engine previously found in the Expedition and replaced it with a 3.5L direct-injected twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. This new engine was designed to achieve better fuel efficiency in Ford’s renowned SUV without sacrificing performance capability.

Complete with three different drive modes (comfort, normal, and sport) the 2015 Expedition is built with the driver in mind. Electric power-assisted steering and an advanced suspension system allow the driver to have a better feel while driving in addition to increased maneuverability.  Add in the SYNC system with MyFord Touch Infotainment and the radar-based Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and you’ll find that other SUVs simply can’t compare.
