Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble had an amazing morning with the students from Mosaic and the Best Buddies program.  The award-winning dealership general manager/operating partner, Chuck Kramer and their team presented a new, specially designed Ford Expedition.The Mosaic members and Best Buddies students had been using an older van for transportation and were past due for an upgrade. When Randall Reed was visiting with the kids last month, he learned of their need and had the team at Planet Ford on Hwy. 59 get to work on creating a custom Ford that could help get these two great groups where they needed to go… in Planet Ford style.

Looking for a powerful truck to get the tough jobs done? Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble,TX (serving Houston, Atascocita, Katy and Conroe) compared the top contenders in the ½ ton full-size pickup segment including the 2014 Ford F-150 Limited, 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794, and 2013 Nissan Titan SL. We examine these trucks to find the leader based on engine performance, towing capability and fuel economy.

Blowing away the competition is the Ford F-150 with a 3.5 Liter V-6 EcoBoost engine that churns out 411 horsepower and 434 pound- foot of torque. Coming in a closer second is the Toyota Tundra with a 5.7 liter I-Force V-8 engine putting up 381 horsepower and 401 foot-pound of torque. In an embarrassing last place is the Nissan Titan with only 317 horsepower and 385 pound-foot of torque.

One of the main reasons you buy a truck is to be able to haul whatever you want right? Claiming the top spot again is the Ford F-150 with a total towing capacity of 11,300 pound and maximum payload of 3,120 pounds. The Toyota tundra takes second place with maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and a max payload of 1,505 pounds. Falling behind again is the Nissan Titan with a maximum towing capacity of 9,100 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,805 pounds.

You may not buy a truck for the fuel economy, but wouldn’t it be nice to get the most for your money at the pump? Once again, the Ford F-150 beats the completion with 15 city 21 highway and 17 combined miles per gallon. Tied for second place is the Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra with 13 city 18 highway and 15 combined miles per gallon.

So, when you are thinking about buying new truck, if you want the most powerful truck that can haul the heaviest load with the best fuel economy, the choice is clear.
