Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble is proud to support The Village and their Wish Upon a Star Charity Gala on Saturday, November 9th, 2013.

The Junior League of Houston and features the talented “Grady Gaines & the Texas Upsetters” band. The Village has helped over 180 individuals with developmental disabilities over the last year, expressly due to past gala attendance and support.

This year, The Village is proud to honor Curtis and Kim Maxey. They have been long supporters of The Village, as well as the local community as well.  During the Gala, The Village will also be inducting Joe and Cathy Cleary into the Founder’s Circle. As past Gala Honorees, The Village is honoring all their support for the past 13 years.

Ford EcoBoost Interceptor Outruns Chevy and Dodge

Screen Shot 2013-10-21 at 1.19.24 PMIn a Michigan State Police test, the new Ford EcoBoost®-powered Police Interceptor sedan beat out the Chevrolet Caprice V8 and Hemi Dodge Charger. The Ford Police Interceptor utility with EcoBoost overpowered the V8-equipped Chevrolet Tahoe.

“These tests conducted by the Michigan State Police are an important validation of best-in-class performance in outright acceleration – the most critical measure of police pursuit vehicles,” said Bill Gubing, Ford chief engineer.

Preliminary results of the Michigan State Police tests show the fastest of the fast. The 2014 Ford Police Interceptor sedan with standard all-wheel drive posted a 0-60 mph time of 5.66 seconds, while the 5.7-liter Hemi-equipped Dodge Charger with optional all-wheel drive delivered a 6.04 seconds.

The Ford EcoBoost-powered sedan also topped the 6.0-liter V8-equipped Chevrolet Caprice, which clocked a 6.01-second 0-60 mph time.

The gap in acceleration grows in 0-100 mph testing. The Ford Police Interceptor turned a 13.5-second 0-100 mph time, while Dodge Charger posted 14.70 seconds and Chevrolet Caprice took 14.35 seconds.

Ford has been the the best-selling police vehicle since 1996. The new Ford Police Interceptor 3.5-liter EcoBoost-powered utility vehicle made its debut in Michigan State Police testing, and while competition was close among sedans, the Ford utility left its rivals in the dust.

With Ford’s announcement in September of a new non-pursuit-rated, fuel-efficient 2.0-liter EcoBoost-equipped Special Service Police sedan, the company now offers law enforcement agencies the power of choice when they want to maximize efficiency and power.

“Pink” Mustang Debutes at Hard Rock’s Pinktober with New Owner

Thursday, October 16th, Planet Ford’s “In the Pink” Mustang made its debut at Hard Rock’s Pinktober concert in Houston with its new owner, Gabriela Spellman, a breast cancer survivor.

Pinktober is Hard Rock’s global campaign to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. The Bull 100.3 and Hard Rock the event featuring Joe Nichols.  A portion of the funds from the concert and merchandise sold will go towards local and international breast cancer research foundations.

Many people are affected by this  disease every year. Planet Ford teamed up with Memorial Hermann Hospital for Project Mammogram to raise money and awareness. For each vehicle sold, Planet Ford donates a portion of the proceeds. Project Mammogram provides breast cancer education, mammograms and other diagnostic services to under served and the uninsured.

Planet’s “In the Pink” ‘stang has garnered a lot of attention. Erica Rico from Q Morning Zoo on 93Q drove it around town and it was featured on Fox 26 News (watch). Then, Ford Motor Co. invited Planet Ford to bring the Mustang to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Houston, TX.

At the race, people lined up to see the car “Moving Ford’ward for The Cure.” While many loved it, when Gabriela Spellman (a 2009 breast cancer survivor) asked to sit in the car, it was a story of “girl meets car; girl falls in love with car.” Her husband decided to surprise Gabriela. See the surprise delivery video below:

David contacted Kristi Williams, the Community Relations Director and executive assistant to Chuck Kramer, General Manager/Operating Partner for Planet Ford in Humble. David shared his wife’s story and how she wanted the car. Kristi got the OK from Mr. Kramer for Gabriele to get the car of her dreams. Kristi and David then devised a plan that David was visiting the dealership to buy a new Ford F-150 in order to surprise Gabriela.

When Gabriela showed up, the entire Planet Ford team was waiting dressed in their pink shirts and ready to surprise her. As you can see in the video, Gabriela was indeed surprised and left speechless. It was a moving moment for everyone. The Planet Ford team could not be more happy to see our custom-created “In the Pink” Mustang drive off with such a strong and deserving woman.

For breast cancer awareness month, Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble created a custom Ford Mustang that was “pinked out” to support “the cure” during the month of October.

There are so many options in the SUV market making it extremely difficult to compare all the choices. The 2014 Ford Flex features a twin turbo V-6 EcoBoost engine churning out 365 horsepower with 350 foot pounds of torque.  The Flex produces this impressive power while still delivering similar fuel economy. Fighting for a close second is the Dodge Durango with 290 horsepower and 260 foot pounds of torque. Coming in last is the GMC Acadia with 288 horsepower and 270 foot pounds of torque.
