Ford Marks Anniversary with 50-Year Limited Edition Mustang GT Fastback

As part of the celebration, yesterday, Ford announced at the New York International Auto Show a tribute to a half century of Mustangs. Ford is releasing the all-new 50-Year Limited Edition of the 2015 Mustang GT fastback. There are only 1,964 vehicles being created. This is one of the most unique and rare Mustangs being manufactured to date. The commemorative Mustang is available in Wimbledon White or Kona Blue.  This special ‘Stang is set to make its way to market later this year.

The company has been diligently manufacturing and improving the iconic muscle car since 1964. “When Mustang was approved for development more than 50 years ago, I don’t think anyone imagined it would spawn such a dedicated base of fans around the world and still be in production today,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “We are thrilled to be here in New York – where Mustang was first shown to the public at the 1964 World’s Fair – to re-create that historic event for today’s Mustang enthusiasts.”

50 Year Limited Edition Mustang GTThe 50-Year Limited Edition put it all out on  the table. Ford designers and engineers started with a 2015 Mustang GT fastback complete with performance pack. They then added several features to make it a truly unique rendition of the classic American icon. In fact, this edition comes standard with every option that Ford offers.

The only decision the buyer will have to deal with is the color and transmission options. The 50-Year Limited Edition takes several design cues from early renditions of the Mustang, including the proprietary Wimbledon White paint, chrome trim stylings and rear window design.

These features are just the tip of the iceberg for the 50 Year Limited Edition. Once in the driver’s seat, it’s easy to see that this isn’t your ordinary 2015 Mustang GT fastback. The dashboard is adorned with an elegant aluminum trim, giving this model a special look that you can’t find anywhere else. After sinking into the comfy two-tone cashmere/leather seats, you can grip the wheel and to find a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel with similar stitching found throughout the vehicle.

Interior may be less important to some, which is understandable considering the driving experience this Mustang delivers. Ford Mustang Takes on Manhattan Atop the Empire State Building

2015 Mustang DeconstructedFord takes on a sky-high adventure as it sets out to celebrate its 50th birthday.  It took six weeks of preparation time, but the Ford staff has now successfully — for the second time — displayed the all-new 2015 Mustang atop the observation deck of the Empire State Building.

As part of Ford’s celebration of 50 years of Mustang production, a team of engineers recreated the infamous stunt that Ford originally completed in 1964. Ford is proud to revisit the Big Apple after releasing the original model at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York City. Towering 1,000+ ft. over Manhattan, the sleek and sexy 2015 Mustang continues to make headlines as one of the most iconic muscle cars in American history.

This was a tough task.  To assist, Ford turned to a longtime friend in DST Industries out of Michigan for support, the same company that helped Ford complete the task 50 years ago. The duo can proudly claim responsibility for being the only car on the observation deck in the entire 83-year history of the Empire State Building.

“This week, the band is getting back together as Ford and DST bring the all-new Mustang to the Empire State Building to honor 50 years on sale,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “We’ve taken the new Mustang to new heights of technology and refinement, so we decided to take it to new heights for this celebration.”

Up, up and away

Due to position of the observation deck, delivering the car by crane or helicopter are not feasible options. To circumvent this, the team is following a procedure similar to the one used 50 years ago by utilizing the building’s elevators to transport section of the ‘Stang to the 86th floor. After the team performed a critical inspection of the building, they began to plan out the necessary cuts that needed to be made to ensure safe and reliable transport.

2015 Mustang on Empire State BuildingThe team proceeded to make practice cuts on a Mustang body before cutting, packaging and transporting the the car in specially fabricated crates. After months of work, they are finally able to see the fruits of their labor as the Mustang is on display on April 16th and 17th. Planet Ford Helps Best Buddies Fundraising

We have a special fundraiser going on to help make the dreams of the Best Buddies chapter at Kingwood Park High School (KPHS) come true this summer — we want to see them make it to Disney World and Universal Studios.

KPHS Best Buddies is part of a nonprofit 501(c)(3) (Federal Tax ID# 52-1614576) global organization of volunteers and students dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships between students with learning differences and disabilities with other students in their school. Best Buddies also provides students with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills. With the support of school faculty and Best Buddies staff, students lead and direct the chapter at our school. Best Buddies helps us make a difference in someone else’s life and our own, and we become role models for the rest of our school.

These amazing kids and the school staff are fundraising for what will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a great number of our students. Typically, these  students who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are not able to go on school trips without their parents because of their special needs. We want to give our students that quintessential experience and adventure of a class trip that other high school students might take for granted.

The trip is planned for June 12th-17th, 2014. Any assistance that can be offered would be greatly appreciated to help us make our kids’ dreams come true by giving them this magical experience.

2015 F-150 Survives Ford’s “Torture Tests”

PETEREYES_SKV6834Since being revealed earlier this year, the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 has continued to make headlines. Most recently, MSN Money reported on the 2015 F-150 to showcase how the new truck is truly Built Ford Tough. Before anyone is able to buy the 2015 F-150, Ford is committed to engaging in comprehensive field testing to ensure that the new vehicle provides the durability that you expect from a Ford truck. Here’s a few of the unique “torture tests” that the new F-150 recently submitted to.

  • Silver Creek: Ford’s famous Silver Creek durability course in Romeo, Michigan provides a track with two incredibly rugged surfaces. Complete with copious craters in the road and broken concrete, this test provides the F-150 with a rigorous test of strength and reliability.
  • Power Hop Hill features an 11% grade, rivaling the grade at which some ski jumps are created. This “washboard” type test track is designed to imitate the steep off-road trails of the Hualapai Mountains in Arizona.
  • Engine Thermal Shock: For this test, the F-150 is isolated and revved up to simulate full-tow up a steep hill. The isolated engine is then subjected to extreme changes in temperature, ranging from -20 degrees all the way up to 270 degrees.
  • Twist Ditch: This test is comprised of two parallel dirt mounds positioned so that diagonally positioned wheels are off the ground at the same time. This helps simulate stress that could arise in both the frame and body of the truck.

These unique tests provide reliable simulation and testing to determine the reliability of Ford vehicles. “We wanted to build the toughest, most capable F-150, while making it as much as 700 pounds lighter,” said Pete Reyes, Ford F-150 chief engineer. “We challenged the team to torture the truck harder than any F-150 before it.”

These simulations truly highlight Ford’s commitment to durability, reliability and toughness. As evidenced by the new 2015 F-150, their tests seem to be doing a great job. Randall Reed, owner of Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble, along with Chuck Kramer, GM/OP, are thrilled to honor Charlie Duke, Humble ISD’s 2013-2014 District Teacher of the Year. Mr. Reed and the Planet Ford in Humble team presented Mr. Duke with a brand new 2014 Ford vehicle!

For the 2nd year in a row, Planet Ford has awarded an all-new Ford Escape or a sporty  Ford Fusion to a much-deserving teacher. The Reed Family also awarded a resort vacation in Sedona to Lisa Guin. She was the runner-up for Teacher of the Year. Her prize pack comes complete with airfare and lodging in an exclusive, private villa.

With these two great options, it was tough for Ms. Grisby to decide, but she ultimately opted for the efficient-yet-spacious Escape. Friday, April 4th, 10 finalists for District Teacher of the Year were honored at the Humble ISD Education Foundation Gala held at the Humble Civic Center. During the Gala, the Elementary and/or Secondary Teacher of the Year is named, and the District Teacher of the Year is named. Both will represent Humble ISD in the Region 4 Teacher of the Year Contest.

Planet Ford Sponsors Mud Run & Mud Bug Fest at Morning Glory Ranch

Today started with a 5K obstacle course set up in rural country fashion: over the hills and through the woods through filthy pits of mud! After the race, people had worked up an hardy appetite. Morning Glory Ranch dished up tons of mud bugs aka crawfish and barbecue.

There was fun for all. Kids had their own 1k mud run and pony rides. All of the proceeds will help raise money for summer camp programs for children who have special needs.

Today, the Planet Ford in Humble family celebrated receiving numerous awards during a luncheon with the entire staff and Ford team.  Planet Ford in Humble is among an elite group of Ford dealerships to be recognized with the Triple Crown Award and President’s Award by Ford Motor Company. This is the second consecutive year that Planet Ford has received this recognition.

These prestigious awards honor dealerships that have excelled in automotive retailing by providing exceptional customer service and satisfaction. The coveted Triple Crown is achieved by only one percent of dealerships nationwide and consists of the President’s Award for customer satisfaction, the Ford Top 100 for sales and the ESP Premier Club award for customer service.
