Best Buddies Teaches Ford Dealer, Randall Reed Lessons in Commercial Making

Randall Reed, owner of Planet Ford 59 with Students in Best Buddies Program at Kingwood Park High School in the Houston area.

Randall Reed, owner of Planet Ford in Humble and World Class Automotive Group, got a lesson in commercial making from Kingwood Park High School students during his visit to the high school and their Best Buddies program.

While visiting with the students and staff, the kids shared their take on Randall and his wife, Sherry’s catch phrase, “We’re Dealin’!”  Mr. Reed was so impressed, he asked them to create their own impromptu version on camera while at the Houston area school.

We think the students from the Best Buddies did a amazing job! What do you think?

Best Buddies is a program that Randall, Sherry, Planet Ford in Humble, World Class Automotive and Starbase Jet (the Reed’s jet charter company) are all proud to support.  The non-profit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Ford Teams Up with Coke for Eco-Innovative Interiors for Cars

Ford always seems to be making headlines for their innovative ways. This time they have teamed up with Coca-Cola to make a more eco-friendly interior for the Ford Fusion Energi. Currently the Ford Ford Fusion Energi is  available at Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble.

As you will see in this story from ABC News, for the American automaker, creating a car that is more environmentally friendly doesn’t just mean that is offers a hybrid engine or provides better gas mileage. It goes deeper than that. It is an inside job for Ford, too.

The Fusion Energi is a hybrid vehicle that is currently in development by Ford. It uses the same material to line the car’s insides as Coke uses to make its plastic bottles.

Both plastic bottles and car interiors can be made from PET, short for polyethylene terephthalate. Back in 2009, Coca-Cola started to make bottles using PlantBottle Technology, a method that made PET but used sustainable plants in place of petroleum. Todd Nissen, a spokesman for Ford, said that PlantBottle technology caught the company’s eye.

“We actually announced an initiative that wasn’t only with Coke but with Heinz, Nike and Procter & Gamble,” he told ABC News. “Out of those talks came the idea that we could use Coke’s technology and turn PET into a fabric.”

Planet Ford Presents Humble Atascocita Student with ‘High School Football Player of the Week’

Chuck Kramer, GM/OP (right), presents Ford's awards to Greg Campbell and Coach Craig Stump.

Chuck Kramer, GM/OP (right), presents Ford’s high school football award to Greg Campbell and Coach Craig Stump.

Today, Chuck Kramer, General Manager/Operating Partner of Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Humble, was proud to present Greg Campbell, Sr., Quarterback, Humble Atascocita with the “Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week” trophy.

Surrounded by his team, classmates and faculty, Greg and the school were presented with the award based on his athletic achievements on the field, as well as for outstanding scholarship and community involvement. Greg and other Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week are selected because they are embodiment of Ford’s Go Further commitment.

Many pundits may not have expected that Humble Atascocita would stand at 7-1 (5-1 in tough District 13-5A) heading into Week 9. However, most of those pre-season swamis had no idea that former wide receiver Greg Campbell would make the move to quarterback so easily. Last week’s relatively rare 31-17 win over crosstown rival Kingwood provides the perfect example. Taking what the defense gave him, Greg ran 24 times for 235 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 10 of 16 passes for 157 yards and another score. The Eagles sprinted to a second-quarter 21-0 lead and were never headed. Campbell has now thrown for 1,608 yards (117 of 190 in the air) and 17 touchdowns and run for 820 yards (133 carries) and nine more scores. Not bad for a young man, who a year ago was busy catching 68 balls for 870 yards and 11 TDs.

104_1136Greg is also a good track athlete. He carries a solid B+ academic average, which has been getting better every year. He’s active in his church youth group and provides able assistance at Humble’s Punt, Pass, & Kick competition.

His coach has enjoyed seeing Greg’s growth as a football player. “He has always known the offense, but never from the quarterback’s perspective,” said Coach Craig Stump. “He worked hard all spring and summer and that has paid off. He has a great demeanor for a quarterback, always calm, never rattled. We won a four-overtime game this year and another on the last drive of the game and that’s a great tribute to this fine young man.”
